Nesuto Review: Second Outlet At Jewel Offering New Cakes And Bonbons

You might not be new to Nesuto at Tras street, Japanese-inspired patisserie founded by local pastry chef, Alicia Wong, who is celebrated for her dainty bakes and exquisite desserts. Great news for Nesuto’s fans staying in the east, you can now head over to their new outlet at Jewel to satisfy your sweet cravings!

New Cakes and Bonbons

At the Jewel outlet, you can look forward to all-new cakes, lovely bonbons, gift sets, complemented by an extensive list of tea, coffee, and wine for an indulgent high tea experience. This is an excellent opportunity for you to experience these new flavours firsthand, before purchasing whole cakes through Nesuto’s online store. PS: The tea selection is specially curated by Alicia, including premium sencha which was handcarried all the way from Japan.

Matcha Chestnut ($12.90++)

Introducing our top pick- Matcha Chestnut layered sponge cake, featuring 5 layers of matcha and chestnut goodness; light Uji matcha chantilly cream, matcha bavaroise, chestnut pieces in chestnut cream atop a dense matcha almond sponge base.

We loved every component of the cake, from the earthy matcha, buttery chestnut, to the subtle sweetness of the creams. If you do not have much of a sweet tooth, you will find yourself loving this cake for its uplifting matcha and delicate sweetness.

Chocolate Orange ($11.20++)

Next, Chocolate Orange- decadent chocolate cake with delightful orange confit would certainly be a hit among kids and chocolate fans. This is a perfect symphony of rich moist chocolate sponge cake and tangy zest. Indulge in the sheer bliss of premium chocolate cake and be in for a zesty orange twist as the cake melts in your mouth.

Whiskey Chocolate ($11.90++)

Calling fans of alcoholic desserts, check out Whiskey Chocolate cake, featuring an alluring trio of rich chocolate, whisky, and a hint of cinnamon spice. Catch hints of whisky from the top layer of decadent mousse infused with muscovado sugar.

Chocolate Bon Bons ($23.14++)

Fancy a gift for your loved ones or simply cannot get enough of Nesuto’s goodies? Bag a box of chocalate bons bons, featuring 6 unique concoctions- Passionfruit & Hazelnut, Raspberry & Lime, Rose & Pistachio, Earl Grey & Bergamot, Sesame Rum, and Smoked Dark Chocolate & Caramel. Enjoy these sweet treats at $3.86++ per piece / $23.14++ for box of 6.

Our favourites are the Earl Grey & Bergamot and Rose & Pistachio, which were incredibly fragrant and well balanced with sweet and earthy notes.

The Ambience

As you set foot into the cafe, you will be drawn into a quaint “nest”. Look through the glass case at the storefront and catch a glimpse of the interior. “Nesuto”, which means “nest” in Japanese, embodies the brand’s aspiration to create a comfortable and inviting space that leaves a lasting impression and inspires returned visits – like a bird to its nest. The rustic wall coverings resemble the texture of bird nests, warm and cosy.

Apart from the gorgeous showcase of cakes and entremets, there is also a variety of gift sets such as cookies and sables, perfect for travel gifts.

Takeaway option is also available if you prefer to sit by Jewel’s majestic waterfall and enjoy the treats.

Final Thoughts

Pop by Nesuto’s new outlet at Jewel to rest your legs after hours of shopping, or simply for a mid-day pick-me-up. Uplift your spirits with the pretty bakes at Nesuto, they certainly taste as good as they look!
