Moisturising Face Mask

The name "Saborino" is derived from the Japanese word "Saboru" which means "to be lazy" or "skip your routine". Therefore, Saborino's Good Morning and Good Night masks are specially designed for busy women who want to shorten their morning and night skincare routines.

Saborino Good Morning Mask is great for time-starved ladies who are rushing to complete their morning routine before heading out for work or sending kids to school. Simply leave the mask on for 60 seconds to achieve 3-in-1 performance from cleansing, skincare, toprimer (base). It contains 10 different moisturising ingredients, including hyaluronic acid (HA), honey, apple acid, collagen, orange oil, grapefruit fruit peel oil, and more.

There are also other variations such as Vitamin Morning Mask and Botanical Morning Mask if you love the refreshing scent of peppermint.

Review: The masks come in one large pack with a plastic lid opening and a thin plastic sheet that keeps the moisture. It is easy pulling out one mask at a time, they don’t clump up, and are soaked with all the mask goodness. The mask is also stretchable and does not tear easily. This morning mask has a slight minty feeling, I would describe the sensation as “refreshing” but do note not to leave it on longer than 60 seconds as it might “sting” after that. I also patted the leftover essence onto my skin. My skin certainly seemed refreshed and moisturised after a minute of masking but I have to complete at least 1 pack to determine if regular use of this mask will improve my overall skin condition.

By night, Saborino Good Night Mask is a 1-minute firming night mask that boasts a 5-in-1 function - toner, lotion, essence, cream and mask. It contains ingredients meant to moisturise, firm and exfoliate the skin.

Review: There was a slight tingling sensation when I applied the mask on my face, compared to the Good Morning mask. My skin felt a bit sticky and greasy after use hence I rinsed my face after removing the mask. My dry skin did not feel very much moisturised after that so I still applied my usual moisturising essence before going to bed. I will not repurchase this mask as it does not shorten my nightly skincare routine.

Looking for a rejuvenating mask with brightening ingredients? KOSE COSMEPORT Clear Turn Sleep 8 hours in 8 minutes (Skin Rejuvenating) is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Review: The mask sheet is made of cotton with an uneven surface that gives it a soft feel against my skin. It is also semi transparent. The essence is light yet moisturising, easy for my skin to absorb. Also, each mask pack contains 168ml of essence, I will definitely soak my own cotton pads in the remaining essence after using up all of the sheets. This is a pleasant mask to use, I may just repurchase it for its lovely scent and soothing effect on my skin!

Hada Labo Gokujyun Hydrating Mask is produced by Hada Labo, Japanese skincare brand celebrated for its effective moisturising products. This mask contains hyaluronic acid which soothes, moisturises, revitalises the skin. It is also pH balanced, boasts low irritation and free of fragrance, mineral oil & colourant.

Review: As a fan of Hada Labo products, this mask certainly hydrated my skin with no irritation. For ladies who prefer fragrance-free skincare products, you will like this moisturising face mask. I can see myself repurchasing for a winter holiday when I need to religiously apply a moisturising mask every night. Tip: Pat the remaining essence onto face and even on your neck.

It is recommended to use this mask the night before going under the hot sun the next day. The mask certainly hydrated my skin and I also applied the leftover serum on my neck, arms and legs. My skin was still soft and moisturised the next morning. It is slightly more pricey for a single mask so I may repurchase and use it when my skin requires an extra skincare boost.

This all-in-one RISM Daily Care Mask (Moisture) comes in a 7-pc pack, recommended to apply it for 5 minutes. It has been tested for sensitive skin and is free of weak acid-free, colouring, and alcohol (ethyl alcohol) additives.

Given the affordability of this mask pack, the performance of the mask is acceptable. My skin felt adequately moisturised. The size of the mask was also slightly larger than most masks, it was able to cover my under eyes too. If I am to repurchase from the brand, I will try out other series to see if it will perform better.

Review: I first tried their eye cream and it was indeed smooth and silky, with no artificial fragrance, colours or mineral oil. Their face mask was also deeply moisturising, leaving my skin soft and smooth. I like that it is a 5-in-1 face mask which contains toner, essence, lotion, cream and serum. However, the viscosity of the serum may be too thick and sticky for Singapore’s humid weather as it was designed to combat winter skin dryness, so you may want to rinse off excess serum on your face.

I like that the mask not only contains hyaluronic acid, it also contains 10 types of vitamins and niacinamide. Besides hydration, I did feel that my skin was a little smoother and appeared slightly brighter after applying the mask. On top of its wallet-friendly price point, I think this cute and low-irritation mask makes a perfect souvenir for me and my friends.

Calling Sanrio fans, unwind and pamper your skin with these cute Sanrio character face masks enriched with hyaluronic acid and collagen. They also have a slight fruity scent such as blueberry, peach and strawberry scents for an extra immersive experience.

I tried the Kuromi mask with blueberry scent, it was indeed very cute, cooling and refreshing when applied on my face. I think this mask is ideal for taking “wefies” with friends at a slumber party, but I will not repurchase it for myself as it is not exactly value-for-money.

Scented Face Mask

Review: I found the sweet and calming sakura scent rather pleasant, along with its hydrating and conditioning benefits. However, my skin did tingle a bit on days when my skin was very dry. The tingling sensation did subside after a couple of minutes. As it is comes in a 7-day mask pack, it will come in handy if you are bringing it on a trip or use it whenever you feel like changing up your skincare routine with a lovely scent of sakura.

Review: I tried the Hokkaido Lavender Face Mask which promotes “Blissful relaxation”. The lavender scent/oil was indeed soothing and relaxing, perfect for some “me-time” at bedtime. I felt that my skin was adequately moisturised although I did not have high hopes about its performance. Given its affordability, I don’t mind buying other masks in the series to try.

Final Thoughts

If you have sensitive or dry skin, the minimalist approach of Japanese skincare and its face masks, with an emphasis on hydration, will certainly be right up your alley. Furthermore, their sustainable packaging of 7 face masks in 1 pack allow consumers to experience a week of using the product, one may see some results* within this time frame. *Masks with hydrating and plumping effects may show quicker results, however masks targeting pore care and fine lines will take longer to show its effectiveness. Do remember to read the ingredients of each mask pack before adding it to your skincare routine, especially if you have sensitive skin.
