888 Seasons Review: We Try Japanese Premium Fruits For The First Time
The Hype About Japanese Premium Fruits - Are These Worth The Tag? Despite visiting Japan for a few times, it’s my first time trying out these Japanese Premium Fruits - all I thought was, why didn’t i try this earlier?!
Japanese Fruits are known to be juicy, sweet and for some, bigger than usual because of the conditions they were from! Stay with us till the end for an exclusive surprise!
Momo Paradise (Seasonal)
I was stoked about this as it’s the peach season currently. In addition - 888seasons shared that they started this business from a peach. I knew the peaches here has to be of a certain standard.
The first bite into the peach is so fleshy and juicy - unlike the peaches I had previously. It also reminded me of the pink dolphin we all love to drink, yes — it’s that peachy and sweet. So good. Can I also mention how big were the peaches are? Each of them are almost the size of my palm!
Okayama Shimizu White Momo - the Eau De Cologne of peaches. It’s fragrance and sweetness is light, subtle and refreshing
Fuefuki Yellow Golden Momo - the Eau De Toilette of peaches. Mellow, a little more intense with its fragrance and sweetness with a slight hint of mango within the peach
Yamanashi Outdoor Mom - The Eau De Parfum of peaches. An alluring and intense fragrance, delightfully sweet and juicy. The Taste of Summer.
My favourite’s the Yamanashi Outdoor Mom, for all peach lovers out there, these peaches are definitely worth your buck!
How & When to Eat these peaches: These juicy peaches are ripe and ready to eat once the peaches are soft to touch, and their fragrance gets stronger when you smell them! When peaches are unripe, their scent isn’t strong (fragrance), and their flesh wouldn’t be juicy and sweet as compared to ripen ones.
The peach season is ending this month! Be sure to get them fast as they come in limited quantity only.
Kyoto Watermelon
I’ve heard about the weird/odd shapes about Japanese Watermelons. However, this one come in the usual shape, but a lot smaller in size compared to your usual watermelon. In terms of taste and slices, it is thinner than your usual watermelon. Also, it’s more of a crisp texture than your usual chunky bite. It’s juicy flesh does make it an addictive thirst quencher!
Shizuoka Grade AAA Crown Melon
JAPANESE MELONS. MY FAVOURITE!
Personally, I had higher expectations for this because of the price tagged - but one thing for sure: these Japanese melons have got to be the King Of Melons! They are way juicier and sweeter than your other melons out there! The meaty yet melty texture of its flesh just so it melts in your mouth. Mmmmm.
Ecuador Sweet Passionfruit
I’m not a passionfruit fan at all, but this is the complete opposite of my usual experience! This passionfruit is sweet and bursts with flavour, it’s well-balanced sweetness vs tart and it’s pulpy flesh and crunchy seeds. I put my money on it, one is never enough.
My mum, who eats passionfruit at least thrice a week expressed that she enjoyed this thoroughly!
“PS: But if you like your passionfruit really sour, then this is not the one for you. Personally, i’m in awe of how passionfruit can taste this sweet!”
Premium Okayama Shine Muscat
They say, the Grapes made in Okayama offers you the best quality because they are produced with special care. The superb quality comes from the long history and pride of the producers in Okayama.
The Rolls Royce of the Shine Muscat grape, these are extremely sweet, juicy, seedless flesh with an intoxicating fragrance encased in a tight casing of thin skin that pops with a crunch in your mouth and an after taste lingers on taste buds. As shown in the picture, it’s way larger than your usual grapes! Just not too sure if i’ll bear to part my wallet for these.
Shizuoka Amela Fresh Tomatoes
A far cry from your usual tomatoes - these freshies are all so rich, sweet and intense in flavour you wouldn’t really think of it as a vegetable but more of a fruit. Deliciously juicy and highly addictive! I can’t stop nomming on it. Great for those who’re on a diet and need a sweet alternative from your boring bland vegetables. Sweet, yet high in anti-oxidants? NANI?!?!
I highly recommend everyone to get your hands on these! One of our top favourites from this gift set!
Saga House Mandarin Mikan Gift Box
Mikans are the most popular type of Japanese oranges, which are generally known as kan (some other orange varieties are iyokan, ponkan, etc.) These seedless beauties with super thin skin, encased within is a ball of fleshy, juicy, citrusy goodness. It was so juicy that the klutz in me made a mess while savouring it. It’s sweet at the beginning with a slightly tart finish, different and juicier than your usual mandarin tangerines.
P/s: They are on sale right now!
