Introducing Bleu: the new one-stop seafood grocer in the lively neighbourhood of Joo Chiat! Calling all the easties, check out this new exciting store decked in a beautiful mix of blue and white. The enticing space exudes a calm vibe that reflects the brand’s love for the ocean, accentuating the inviting space is Bleu’s feature wall of a black-and-white, larger-than-life, graffiti artwork that celebrates ocean life.

Soft-opened on 26 July 2022, Bleu specialises in dry-aged fish, offers a variety of live, chilled, frozen and cooked seafood, as well as a curated selection of meats, fine food, pantry essentials and alcoholic beverages.

Dry-Aged Fish

Spot the the dry-ager at the storefront, where descaled and gutted sashimi-grade fish are dry-aged under controlled temperature and humidity levels, for a period of five to thirty days.

There are several simple ways to savour dry-aged fish. Eat the premium, sashimi-grade fish raw, or pan-sear it lightly with salt and olive oil to bring out its original flavour, and accentuate its beautiful texture.

You can bring home Dry Aged Ora King Salmon (from $12 per 100g) and Dry Aged Samegarei (from $12 per 100g) – the latter is a flatfish, also known as roughscale flounder.

Live and Chilled Seafood

Live seafood such as Live Boston Lobster (from $40 per piece) and Live Alaskan King Crab (from $138 per 1kg) are kept in open-top tanks in the store. You can readily view and take your pick from the premium crustaceans in the tanks. Next, you can choose to either have these premium crustaceans professionally prepped and portioned in the store, or bring them home live.

A range of fresh, chilled seafood imported from Australia, Canada, France and Ireland, such as Fresh Ora King Salmon (from $8.80 per 100g), Fresh Wild Caught Threadfin (from $7 per 100g) and Oysters (from $30 per half dozen) are also available.

Tip for parents: You can opt for petite cuts of fish for your little ones; each whole fillet is vacuum packed and divided into smaller ready-to-use portions.

Meats

Bleu’s array of meats includes GG Poulet Chicken (from $20 per 1kg-1.2kg) – free-range, antibiotic-and-hormone-free chicken, A5 Wagyu (from $25 per 100g) from Japan, and USDA Prime Striploin (from $9.30 per 100g).

Our Final Thoughts

Bleu is a one-stop grocer where you can grab-and-go your preferred seafood or meat. If you are planning an impromptu seafood party, simply get the Seafood Platter with a bottle of wine or two. If you enjoy cooking, bag home some fresh and premium ingredients from Bleu and cook up a storm!

On a side note, we savoured some light bites prepared by Chef Petrina Loh, using Bleu’s Ora King Salmon and other seafood and meats, served alongside a selection of tasty dipping sauces. We loved the dry-aged Ora King Salmon, which was juicy, tender and succulent. Fun fact: Ora King Salmon is regarded to be the “Wagyu of Salmon”; the naturally high oil content in Ora King salmon can be seen in the striking marbled fat lines within the bright orange flesh. Open your mind and expand your palate with this exquisite dry-aged fish!
