Founded by the team behind Gyutan-Tan, KOKO Cafe & Patisserie is ‘the place to be’ for a thoughtful and delectable selection of artisanal coffee, pastries and cakes. Situated next to Gyutan-Tan’s revamped izakaya-style outlet on Tras Street, KOKO offers a serene and modern escape to indulge in Japanese-inspired culinary craftsmanship.

Guided by Chef Mei Kubota, a talented Japanese pastry chef, KOKO celebrates Japanese craftsmanship with a menu of innovative desserts. Every treat is a visual and culinary masterpiece, showcasing seasonal ingredients and traditional techniques.

Highlights include Yam Mont Blanc ($7): A twist on the classic Mont Blanc, this dessert features a crisp meringue base, tangy mixed berry purée, whipped cream, and smooth yam paste piped into an intricate design.

Okinawan Rum Chocolate Sand ($8): A rich creation blending dark chocolate ganache infused with Japanese rum and hazelnut praline, encased in a salted biscuit crust.

Strawberry Shortcake ($10): A quintessential Japanese dessert with fresh strawberries, fluffy vanilla sponge, and whipped cream—also available as a whole cake with pre-orders.

Apricot Almond Mousse ($9): An elegant entremet combining almond mousse, apricot purée, and crisp feuilletine, encased in a glossy cacao butter shell.

Freshly Made Delights

KOKO’s Doughnuts (from $4) and Choux Puffs (from $4) are freshly made to order. The doughnuts, made with pumpkin-infused dough for added nutrition and a chewy texture, come in indulgent flavours like Chocolate Raspberry, Pistachio, and Coffee. Prefer a savoury twist? Check out their signature Curry Doughnut which encases a generous filling of Japanese chicken curry with a hint of sweetness. The doughnut is lightly coated in crispy golden panko breadcrumbs, giving it a satisfying crunch with every bite.

The choux puffs feature crisp shells and creamy fillings, available in options like original custard, matcha custard, and dark chocolate whip.

Artisanal Beverages to Pair

KOKO’s beverage menu complements its sweet treats with specialty drinks such as Blue Pea Caramel Latte ($7)- a vibrant latte combining the earthy sweetness of blue pea flower with rich caramel. The Rose Matcha ($8.50) features a floral twist on the classic matcha latte. Float My Milk ($9) series introduces milk floats paired with creamy ice creams, such as Kurogoma (black sesame) and Matcha.

We love that the beverages are expertly crafted with adequate sweetness, ensuring an enjoyable dessert experience.

Conveniently located next to Gyutan-Tan, KOKO offers an ideal spot to enjoy dessert after a hearty meal. Whether it’s indulging in a slice of Strawberry Shortcake or sipping on a Rose Matcha Latte, KOKO provides a smooth transition from a savoury dining experience to a relaxed and satisfying sweet treat.
