If you love sushi and grilled dishes, you are in a treat at Shujin Master Sushi Bar, newly opened sushi bar & grill restaurant located in the heart of Orchard Road, Cineleisure. From creative maki sushi, wholesome donburi, to grilled meat and seafood served with housemade dipping sauces, you certainly would be spoilt for choice.

The Menu

From the extensive donburi selection featuring sashimi, seafood tempura, Iberico pork and even wagyu, we tried the Shujin Surf & Turf ($26.90) which served up a luxurious spread of teppan hotate, teppan prawns, wagyu beef cubes, fish and prawn tempura topped with fresh yolk and ikura. We loved the smoky flavours of the teppan hotate and prawns which uplifted the overall flavour profile of the donburi.

From their Signature Maki menu, we had the Ebi Fry Maki ($18.90) topped generously with aburi salmon with the signature Shujin sauce and tamago crumbs. The ebi tempura was tasty but we wished for more cucumber in the maki to take the oily edge off the fried ingredients, and balance the rather intense flavours from the rest of the dish.

From the Grill menu, we had Japanese Porchetta ($23.90) with our choice of garlic miso cream sauce. This rendition of roast pork was nicely executed, presenting crispy skin and juicy pork. The garlic miso cream sauce paired well with the meat too. The sliced cabbage on the side was a nice accompaniment and source of fiber, given that we did not order any salad.

In addition, there are varieties of sashimi, appetizers, salad, soups and add-on options to spice up your meal. Round off the evening with desserts and sake such as Signature Basque Burnt Cheesecake ($6.90) and Hayashi Sake (assorted flavours $25).

Location and Ambience

Shujin Master Sushi Bar is probably the latest member among the new tenant mix of shops and restaurants in Cineleisure. The modern industrial interior design style of the modern Japanese fusion sushi bar exudes a relaxed yet inviting atmosphere. The dining area of the restaurant is spacious and there are also booth seats available.
