Begin your gastronomic journey with one of these scrumptious appetisers;
(1) Soupe À L'oignon Maison, Croûtons À L'emmental Homemade French Onion Soup, Emmental Cheese Croutons,
(2) Mousse De Foie De Poulet Maison À La Confiture De Figues Homemade Chicken Liver Mousse,
(3) Fig Jam Rillette Au Saumon Fumé De Norvège Maison Homemade Norwegian Smoked Salmon Rillette,
(4) Escalope De Foie-Gras Poêlée 100g Chutney D'oignon and Toast 100g Pan Seared Foie-Gras, Onion Chutney, Toast (+$12).

We had the delectable Homemade French Onion Soup, especially heartwarming on a cold and rainy day. Specially conceptualised by Chef Mickaël, this heartwarming bowl of goodness requires two-day preparation. This is a perfect balance of chicken and beef stock, as well as onions that are caramelised naturally – no added sugar, flour or wine. We certainly loved the croutons and savoury French Emmental cheese. Note: A dairy free version can be made upon request.

We would say that this rendition of French onion soup was slightly sweeter than other French onion soups which we had tried before. Nonetheless, we are sure that caramelised onion lovers would appreciate the extra sweetness.

Next, you get to select preferred choice of plat (main course).
Note that all plats are served with Les Bouchons’ tangy mixed salad and addictive homemade fries that are made from scratch and twice-cooked.

(1) Piece De Paleron De Bœuf Grillée Wagyu MB6/7 Grilled Beef Wagyu Oyster Blade MB6/7, 300g (+$10)
(2) Côte D'agneau Grillées Australienne Aux Herbes De Provence Grilled Australian Lamb Chop with Provence Herbs, 3pcs
(3) Magret De Canard Des Landes Entier, Beurre À L'échalote Grilled Whole French Duck Breast, 350g
(4) Gambas Simplement Grillées À L’huile D’olive Extra Vierge Jumbo Prawns Simply Grilled With Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 4pcs

For our main courses, we picked Grilled Whole French Duck Breast and Jumbo Prawns Simply Grilled With Extra Virgin Olive Oil. A generous portion of duck breast (350g) was topped with delightful shallot butter, parsley and fleur de sel de Guérande – the purest form of salt. This delicacy was pan seared before grilling, achieving an optimal texture and aromatic char. We also appreciated the balance of duck meat and fat, which made every mouthful of meat extra flavoursome. The jumbo black tiger prawns were indeed huge and sweet, grilled simply with salt, pepper and extra virgin olive oil.

On a side note, the main course portions were huge, we could hardly finish our plats which came with huge servings of salad and free flow homemade fries! Be sure to have a light breakfast or lunch before enjoying this 3-course meal.

Desserts and Cocktails

We had a sweet and savoury ending to our Christmas menu, Mon Sapin De Noël: Citron/Menthe À La Mousse De Noix De Coco My Christmas Tree: Coconut Mousse and Citrus Mint and Fondant Aux Deux Chocolat Valrhona Maison Et Sa Glace Vanille Homemade Valrhona Double Chocolate Lava Cake, Vanilla Ice Cream, Brie À La Truffe Maison Homemade Truffle Brie made up of mascarpone and truffle pâté.

Spot the bright red Christmas “tree” made up of coconut mousse and lemon mint confit, and crowned with a yellow star-shaped chocolate. The warm double chocolate lava cake was made using Valrhona’s Bahibe (milk chocolate with 46% cocoa content) and Valrhona’s Ariaga (dark chocolate with 66% cocoa content), served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We especially loved the double chocolate combo as the cake was rich with adequate level of sweetness.

The Homemade Truffle Brie had a rich and creamy layer of homemade mascarpone and truffle pâté. which would satisfy any truffle lovers. The dish was rounded off with a small bouquet of salad, biscuits, nuts and dried fruits. You can also spread this cheese on the restaurant’s well-loved bread rolls.

Last but not least, if you still have space for after-dinner drinks, you can’t miss out on their festive cocktails, Xmas Breeze - tangy concoction of Malibu Rum, fresh lime juice, blackcurrant syrup and soda water and Let it Snow - mixture of Baileys, Milo and milk froth, topped with adorable marshmallows.

Final Thoughts

The robust flavours of the savouries and the vibrant colours of the sweets lifted both our spirits and palates on a rainy and gloomy day, We loved that the dishes were seasoned simply with salt and pepper, bringing out the freshness and natural flavours of the ingredients. It was a pleasant and cosy wine-and-dine experience at Les Bouchons, an ideal spot to hang out with your friends after work or on lazy weekends.

This menu is available at all three Les Bouchons outlets, including popular Ann Siang Road and Robertson Quay outlets, as well as the newest Rochester outlet. The sumptuous 3-course menu is priced at $76++, with each course paired with a glass of wine for a truly enjoyable wine-and-dine experience.
