Takeshi-San’s new Yakimono grilled delights feature yakitori sticks of pork, chicken, beef and seafood, available a-la-carte (from $5++) or in platters. Take your pick from a wide selection of Tsukune (chicken meatball), Tebasaki (chicken wing), Shisito (green peppers) and Shitake mushrooms.

Fried Delicacies

Pair a pint of beer with these glorious fried food- Mozzarella sticks with Spicy Sauce $5, Spicy Katsu $5, Ebi Fry $8, Kochi Nankotsu $5 (fried chicken soft bones) and Tori Karaage $6.

We certainly enjoyed Corn Croquette $5, the sweetness of the corn well complemented the crisp and savoury batter.

Prefer something hot on a cold and rainy day? Check out Mushitori $6 (braised chicken with onsen egg). Alternatively, opt for Butani No Nikomi $6 (Braised Pork Belly with Onsen Egg) if you prefer pork. The meat was soft and we could taste the umami in the light yet flavourful broth.

Sushi

If you have been to Ohayo Mama San (operated by the same group behind Takeshi-San), you might find Takeshi-San’s creative sushi concept familiar, particularly Fireball Roll $18 versus “The Fireball” served at Ohayo Mama San. Indeed, the “fireball” packed a great punch with its spicy scallop, crabmeat, cucumber, cream cheese, deep fried with eel sauce and spicy mayo.

Seafood lovers can go for Aburi Salmon Mentai $6, Tank Tamago Mentai $8 and Hotate Nigiri $8. Feeling hungry? Order the Incredible Hulk $18- a sumptuous sushi roll featuring ebi tempura, cream cheese, unagi, topped with kani, salad and avocado. We recommend ordering a couple of sushi for a complete Japanese meal experience.
