Review: Tom's Palette Reopens With 240 Gelato Flavours In Art Studio-Inspired Space

Many may know Tom's Palette as one of the OG gelato places, racking in over 18 years of service. They are back to the scene at 51 Middle Road!

With a brand new look that combines teak-inspired décor and eye-catching artwork by local artists. This exciting transformation also doubles the capacity, now accommodating up to 40 people—ideal spot for even larger gatherings.

Get ready for a delightful selection of over 240 flavours, ranging from White Chocolate Nori to Old Fashioned Apple Pie and Soya Bean Youtiao.

In the chiller, there are consistently 36 enticing flavours, with 9 beloved classics, while the remaining options rotate among the 240 mentioned. Additionally, the commitment is to introduce 6 exciting new flavours each year, ensuring a wide range of choices for everyone.

The gelato comes in 2 sizes Single Cup ($5.20) and Double Cup ($9.60). You can top up $1.20 for a fresh waffle cone too. All prices are nett.

Tom’s Palette

Tom’s Palette ($29.80) features 6 flavours, Poached Pear, Soya Bean Youtiao, Soursop Sorbet, Rum & Raisin, Sicilian Pistachio and Italian Dark Chocolate (dairy and egg-free).

Flavours that stood out to us were the Soya Bean Youtiao, Rum & Raisin and Italian Dark Chocolate (dairy and egg-free).

The Soya Bean Youtiao ice cream brings you the unmistakable taste of chilled soy milk, creating a sensation that feels like you're enjoying a glass of super-chilled soy milk. What sets it apart? The playful addition of youtiao pieces, infusing this frozen delight with the nostalgia of an iconic traditional breakfast – all in a single scoop!

Rum & Raisin remains a timeless favourite, and at Tom's Palette, they've truly nailed it. The blend of rum and sweetness is spot-on, appealing even to non-drinkers. It's a testament to the skill and expertise of the culinary artisans at Tom's Palette.

For those Dietary Restrictions, Italian Dark Chocolate is a Must-Try. Even without essential ingredients like dairy and eggs, this sorbet retains its creaminess and a depth of flavour that is truly indulgent. In fact, we were genuinely surprised when we learned it was dairy-free; it is that good!'

Waffles

No ice cream day is complete without waffles, and these warm, fluffy Belgian Waffles ($7.50) are here to make sure you savour the perfect complement to your favourite frozen treat. Add on $0.30 for Pure Canadian Maple Syrup!

Here’s a little secret to why they are so addictive; the waffles have Biscoff in them! The waffles take on a whole new dimension of flavour with the light and subtle addition of Biscoff, elevating them to a level of taste that truly sets them apart.

Drinks

Wash things down with a cup of Hot Tea ($6) or stay cool with a Ginger Ale Float ($8.80)! This float stars the Alphonso Mango flavour but you can look forward to choosing from 36 flavours at any one time.

Final Thoughts

There’s a reason why Tom’s Palette is able to stand the test of time. With over 18 years of ice cream making experience you won't leave the newly revamped space disappointed! Aside from the flavours in the Tom’s Palette, we recommend getting one of their best sellers, White Chocolate Nori (seaweed). Or try quirky flavours like Pipagao!
