Code Proto: Where Kids Develop Logical Thinking Skills Through STEAM Education

Code Proto is a math enrichment centre for children in pre-school and primary school as well as youths in secondary school and above (4 to 18 years old). First established in River Valley Rd, the math enrichment centre now owns 2 new branches in Clementi and Tiong Bahru respectively (newly opened in October 2024). Code Proto uses "STEAM” education to help children develop logical thinking skills which are useful in school curriculum and daily life. “STEAM” refers to "science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics", encompassing programming, mental arithmetic, SoroTouch, math, and early childhood education to help children acquire logical thinking skills from young.

In short, "STEAM” education combines art and science to foster creativity and critical thinking. By integrating art with science and technology, children learn to see the connections between different subjects and apply their knowledge creatively, gradually developing the skills and mindset needed to become innovators in the 21st century.

Founded in 2017, Code Proto’s classes are conducted in small groups, ensuring meticulous guidance for each student. The instructors incorporate the learning of logical thinking skills in their class curriculum, fostering a conducive environment to help students think on their feet.

At Code Proto, they emphasise communication with their students and build strong rapport with them. For example, students are encouraged to set personal goals and work hand in hand with the instructors in achieving them. Each student will be guided in understanding personal strengths and weaknesses, and overcome challenges through mental resilience and logical thinking skills. In addition, students learn about major events through games and crafts..

This is a new learning method to help train mental imaging skills for faster calculation and master mental arithmetic skills through interactive gameplay. It is recommended to start learning SoroTouch between the ages of 4 and 8 years old.

Gain logical thinking skills and confidence through SoroTouch class

At Code Proto, the average SoroTouch class size is small (minimum 3 to maximum 6 students per class) hence each student will receive close guidance from English-speaking Japanese instructors. Through regular daily exercises, students are able to maintain their pace and push their limits by setting personal goals. Also, there are other learning features within the app so students can expand their learning field beyond math.

During each class, there is adequate time allocated for both self-learning and team activities therefore students can focus on achieving personal targets as well as learn to work in a team. Students who start learning SoroTouch early, will gain confidence while preparing themselves for math and advanced math later in primary school.

Other highlights include building endurance, concentration and confidence and compassion while coursing through challenges and working with peers. All in all, SoroTouch activities train the right brain, cultivate student’s imagination, and improve memorisation skills.
