Nori Nori Review: New A5 Japanese Wagyu-Focused Yakiniku Restaurant At Telok Ayer
There may be a list of Yakiniku restaurants in Singapore from Wa-En Wagyu Yakiniku to En Yakiniku. However, if you are a A5 Japanese Wagyu fanatic, you should not overlook Nori Nori Yakiniku! They are nestled amidst the bustling street of Telok Ayer, serving up to 12 different cuts of A5 Japanese Wagyu.
Upon stepping into the restaurant, it boasts a laid-back charm and wraps us in a cozy embrace, featuring a counter bar and individual seating booths.
Momotaro
We kickstarted the meal with the Momotaro ($8) as an appetiser. It comes with perfectly seasoned juicy tomato slices and is topped with bonito flakes, boasting a sweet and tangy flavor, providing a delightful burst of flavors for our palate.
Oyster Kaki Fry
Next, we had the Oyster Kaki Fry ($10)- one of the must-try dishes from their Sides menu. Served with an aromatic crispy batter, the oysters melted in our mouths as we bit into it, imparting a burst of goodness that lingered on our palates.
A5 Japanese Wagyu
Moving on to the highlight of the menu, the beautifully marbled A5 Japanese Wagyu take center stage, featuring the Rib Finger ($48), Uchimomo, top round ($36), and Karubi ($46). The Rib Finger has a melt-in-the-mouth perfection, bursting with rich umami.
For those seeking a leaner option, you can opt for the Uchimomo, top round ($36). It has great tenderness, offering a satisfying bite that leaves you wanting more.
Not forgetting about the Karubi ($46), this juicy cut showcases a delightful balance of fat and meat, providing a harmonious feast of flavors.
Mangalista Loin Steak
Last but not least, we went for the Mangalista Loin Steak ($35 per 100g), which is succulent and rich in flavours.
To enhance the flavours of each meat, we pair it with their dipping sauces on the side that comes with House Ringo Tare (House Sauce), Volcanic sea salt mix, and Lime.
The most notable was their house sauce, enhanced by a hint of apple purée, which effortlessly complements the savory meat, creating an irresistible harmony on the taste buds.
Executive Lunch Set
If you are heading there for lunch, don't miss out on their Executive Lunch Sets ($29.90). You can choose from Bara-Chirashi Don, A5 Japanese Wagyu Don, Katsu Curry Don, and Hamburg Omu Don. Each set is served with miso soup, chawanmushi, salad, pickles, and your choice of fruit & tea/soft drinks.
Final Thoughts
The variety of A5 Japanese Wagyu cuts offered is a must-try at Nori Nori Yakiniku! I am already looking forward to my next visit to try out the remaining cuts of Wagyu. Besides, the prices are reasonable.
