Any1 Choco: New Japanese Plant-Based Chocolatier In Telok Ayer

At Any1 Choco, literally anyone can indulge in chocolate bliss, without dairy and gluten, which means accessible and delicious chocolate for everyone! The Japanese plant-based chocolatier crafts their chocolate from carefully selected ingredients using cutting edge technology, ensuring that their chocolates are 100% plant-based, dairy-free, and gluten-free.

Any1 Choco’s impressive selection of plant-based chocolates extends beyond chocolate tablets (dark, milk and white), they also offer chocolate ice and drinks (in-store only) on top of chewy dragees in mixed berry, green tea, roasted green tea and white coffee flavour.

We were not new to plant-based milk but the Choco Ice (Single $6.80, Double $9.80) was an eye-opening experience for us! This is an ice-cream-inspired treat, chocolate-flavoured with a refreshing finish. We had the Plant Based Dark Choco Ice which is a balance of sweet and bitter, made from Vietnamese cacao.

The texture was heavier than the usual dairy ice-cream and the overall chocolatey profile was rather bright and distinct. Good news if you are worried about the sweetness level, the choco ice was less sweet in comparison to regular chocolate ice-cream. However, the taste of the plant-based milk stood out more than the chocolate flavour so it might be a little overpowering for those who are fairly new to plant-based milk like us.

Another in-store exclusive is the Choco Drink (Hot from $8++, Ice from $9++) which is also nut-free and egg-free like the Choco Ice. On the Choco drink menu are two categories: regular and special, available in both hot and iced options. Regular comes in three chocolate varieties: dark, milk, and white. From the special category, we had the Plant Based Milk Roasted Green Tea (Ice), which resembled a regular chocolate frappucino upon closer inspection, albeit with an additional dash of hojicha. Other fruity options include Plant Based Dark Raspberry and Plant Based White Strawberry.

Wondering which chocolate tablet (58g for $13.80) or dragees ($12.80) to bag home? There are bite-sized samples of various chocolates available at the counter. The Plant Based Milk Ghana Cacao and Plant Based White Blend Cacao are essentially made using cocoa butter, sugar, cacao mass, white bean powder, soluble dietary fiber, brown rice powder, salt and flavouring. Double up on chocolate with the Plant Based Dark Vietnam Cacao 60% which contains sugar, cacao mass, cocoa butter.

We tried the Mixed Berry and Green Tea dragees, they were indeed chewy and flavourful, perfect for a quick midday pick-me-up.

If you are hanging around in the CBD area and craving for a “less sinful” dessert after meal, do pop by Any1 Choco for a refreshing treat and an innovative chocolate experience!
