Ibaraki brings its scenic charm and culinary heritage to the spotlight with a special limited-time menu at JAPAN RAIL CAFE, available exclusively from 1 to 29 December 2024. Featuring ingredients directly sourced from the region, the menu offers an authentic taste of Ibaraki’s unique flavours.

Highlights include the Iwashi Shirasu Don ($19.50 including miso soup and a drink), a seafood bowl combining boiled shirasu (whitebait) and iwashi sujime (vinegared sardine) over rice, complemented by tamagoyaki (rolled omelette) and red ginger.
For izakaya-style fare, diners can enjoy the Deep Fried Shishamo ($9), crispy capelin filled with roe, showcasing Ibaraki’s commitment to quality.
For dessert, the Ibaraki Mont Blanc Parfait ($10.90) features local specialties like sweet potato and chestnut, layered with chestnut puree, sponge cake, vanilla ice cream, and a distinctive dried sweet potato topping.
Ibaraki Sake Offerings
JAPAN RAIL CAFE is offering a selection of premium sake imported from Ibaraki, including the NISHIOKA HONTEN Hananoi Kodai-mai, made with sacred rice from a 1,000-year-old shrine, the AOKI SHUZO Gokeiji Junmai Ginjo Karakuchi, a dry sake crafted with Ibaraki's original 'Ichibanboshi' rice, and the MORISHIMA Miyama Nishiki Junmai Ginjo, known for its smooth, slightly bitter finish. These sake pairings perfectly complement Ibaraki's culinary offerings and are available as a trio set for $20 throughout December.
