INDOCAFÉ Reopens With A Fresh Space And Menu Featuring Innovative Dishes and Exotic Coffee

Finding genuinely good Peranakan cuisine is like searching for a needle in a haystack these days. But hold up! That quest just got easier because the hidden gem, INDOCAFÉ Peranakan Dining, nestled in Orchard, has finally reopened. Under the culinary guidance of Chef Heng Eng Ho, a seasoned Penang Chef with over two decades of expertise, prepare to indulge in an array of new inventive Peranakan dishes that whisk you into the Peranakan world. They have been awarded the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand every year since 2019.

That's not all! Immerse yourself in the Peranakan culture within the newly designed space adorned with dark wood elements and cultural attire like the Kebaya.

To kick off your meal, delve into their classic starters featuring the Signature Kueh Pie Tee ($19), Ngoh Hiang ($19), or the Nonya Otah Otah ($16). For a comforting choice, opt for the savory Itek Tim ($14), a salted vegetable duck leg soup, ideal for the rainy season.

As for the main courses, explore an array of options spanning chicken with the Ayam Buah Keluak ($29), pork featuring the Babi Pongteh ($28), and seafood options like the Ikan Sambal Bunga Kantan ($39), Udang Tempoyak Durian ($36), and Sotong Masak Hitam ($26)

If you're seeking options beyond rice dishes, they also feature the Assam Laksa ($16) or Dry Laksa ($26).

A must-try from the main is the Udang Tempoyak Durian ($36), showcasing Argentinean red prawns enveloped in fermented durian tempoyak and robust red chili paste. It boasts a savoury flavour with a subtle durian flavour that harmonizes perfectly with the well-balanced blend of spices in the sauce. Not forgetting to mention that the prawns are so fresh and tender. Another dish worth trying is the Dry Laksa ($26), impeccably prepared with a harmonious balance of tangy and spicy flavors.

You definitely can't miss out on the Nonya Chap Chye ($19), a dish you can't overlook in any Peranakan restaurant. This dish is served with braised vegetables, sweetened with large whole prawns in fermented bean paste, and topped with lily buds and mushrooms. Additionally, they offer other green options such as the Sambal Petai Udang ($29).

And of course, your meal is not complete without sinking your teeth into the desserts like the Sago Gula Melaka ($14), a sticky sago pudding sweetened with fragrant gula melaka, and the Signature Kueh Salat ($15) made with glutinous rice tinted blue with butterfly blue pea flower and infused with pandan coconut custard.

If you find it challenging to decide among the options, opt for the Signature Tasting Menu ($98++ per person), featuring a six-course spread. It is also designed for sharing and includes soup, signature dishes, and desserts.

Last but not least, be sure to order their exotic coffee selection to complement your dining experience. Explore the bold flavors of the Gesha Passiflora ($19) originating from Colombia. This brew features bergamot, passionfruit, peppermint, apricot, peaches, and jasmine notes within a medium-bodied coffee, highlighting its exceptional acidity.

Alternatively, you can try the Kerinci ($11) from Indonesia, offering notes of tropical fruits, dried fruits, berries, and stone fruits, with a wine-like sweet finish.
