Shinjuku Garden Transforms To Autumn Night Garden Heaven From 22 Nov - 3 Dec

Tokyo's bustling heart, Shinjuku, is home to an iconic garden that becomes even more enchanting during autumn. Shinjuku Gyoen Garden is famous for its momiji and hanami viewing during the day. Although the hanami season is over, tourists often flock to Japan for momiji viewing during late November to make the most out of the unique sceneries! What makes momiji particularly captivating is the vivid transformation of the park's trees, displaying their splendid fall colours.

Shinjuku Gyoen has partnered with NAKED Inc., a Japanese art and design company, to celebrate the beautiful momiji season with a special autumn event. NAKED Inc. specialises in projection mapping using light to showcase 2D and 3D designs on large surfaces. Some of their notable works are the Flowers by NAKED and TOKYO HIKARI VISION. This autumn, NAKED Inc. will illuminate the most vibrant fall colour sections of Shinjuku Gyoen, highlighting the striking contrast of golden and crimson leaves against the night sky. The daytime fairytale turns into a breathtaking romantic light show at night, transforming the park into a mesmerising spectacle of light and colour. Visitors can enjoy this unique experience from 22 Nov to 3 Dec 2023, as the park will remain open after sunset.

"NAKED" Laterns

As you walk through this surreal landscape, you will be given a "Naked Distance Lantern" to elevate your experience. These lanterns project images of maple, maidenhair, or Platanus leaves on the ground, creating an interactive element that allows you to be part of the artistic ambience.

Shinjuku Gyoen Light up

The enchanting display is along the park's 200-meter-long path adorned with plane trees. The beautiful golden-coloured plane trees are enveloped in a large scale of moving lights.

Other photo-worthy spots of the park have been decorated with the same moving lights to enhance the park further. Watch as the blue maple tree leaves gradually turn red as the laser lights shine upon them.

Another notable spot is the inner pond, where trees surrounding the water body are reflected beautifully on the water's surface. The maple and ginkgo leaves of various sizes dance between trees, creating a relaxing scenery.

Small Bites

"TREE by NAKED Yoyogi Park" food truck will offer delightful autumn refreshments. Indulge in cups of tea adorned with edible maple leaves, vegan sweets and more. Furthermore, all containers and straws are made of environmentally friendly materials such as bioplastic, wood and paper!
