Review: Uni Gallery Introduces Premium 7-Course Autumn Omakase Menu At $88++

Nestled in The Plaza, accessible from PARKROYAL on Beach Road, Uni Gallery by Ooster Bay is a haven for fans of sea urchin. This fall season, the uni specialty restaurant recently launched a 7-Course Autumn Menu at $88++, featuring star ingredients such as uni, abalone and A5 Wagyu beef.

Seafood Delights

First on the menu is the Yuzu Ice-Shaved Hyogo Oyster, fresh and plump Hyogo oyster topped with sea grapes and ikura, finished with freshly shaved yuzu ice. This combination is bright and refreshing, accentuating the bold and buttery flavour of the oyster.

Next, we had the Abalone & Uni Seasonal Sashimi served with shoyu foam. While the abalone, uni and crab are staples, the type of sashimi in this dish may differ depending on seasonal availability.

Crabshell Miso Umami Bomb presents a mix of luxurious ingredients such as crab miso, amaebi shrimp, ikura, and quail egg in a flaming crab shell. We enjoyed savouring each component in this umami explosion. We recommend finishing the ikura before they are “cooked”/turn opaque.

Caviar Bubble Cold Somen is a palate cleanser featuring cold somen in mushroom and truffle oil infused bubble broth, topped with caviar.

Breaking the seafood combo is the A5 Wagyu Steak which spells delight for meat lovers. The wagyu beef slices were juicy and cooked to perfection. We also appreciated the condiments- fried garlic bits and shishito which balanced the dish.

Rice

We loaded up on the Lobster Uni Cream Claypot- fluffy Japanese rice, lobster chunks and edamame baked in a claypot. The rice was then transferred from the claypot into a deep dish before it was drizzled with buttery uni cream. We thought the final dish resembled a rich risotto with crispy rice bits.

Dessert

To round off the meal, we had the Mille Crepe Cake, a dainty piece of mille crepe roll cake with a strawberry slice.

Final Thoughts

For only $88++, this 7-Course Autumn Menu offers a delectable spread of uni, seafood and A5 Wagyu. We recommend this menu to diners who wish to indulge in fresh uni, sashimi and other ocean gems without breaking the bank.
